Apples Week

Hello Followers!

First off, there isn't a day that I do not have at least 3-4 belly laughs from what your children are doing or telling me. Belly laughing is good for the soul and the brain too, it releases seratonin which is the feel good drug excreted by the brain when it is laughing or having fun.

Case in point...last week, I was coming in the front door in the morning arriving for work. A child is coming out of the office area carrying the tape dispenser and says to me: "Guess what Miss Sue? The Art Dog book has been 'raped and ruined'!" I was unsure as to what they were telling me about, as my brain rushed all over trying to figure out how you rape and ruin a book or what did they mean to say. Come to find out the Art Dog book had been "ripped and ruined", but was repairable, thank goodness! No other assaults had happened and Bette was able to fix the book. Plus Bette and I had a good belly laugh over that incident. It's statements like this that make the job worth while...you can't be depressed, sad, rejected here. Too much fun and laughter!

O.K. on with Apples Week. Today we heard the Fable of the Red House. Ask your children what is red, round with no windows or doors but has a star inside? We had a flannel board story about this topic. We looked at 6-8 different varieties of apples; what is the same about them and what is different and what do they all have inside...seeds and if you cut it horizontally, it looks like a star. Plus several new songs and finger plays...whew we were busy!

We made apple prints from real cut apples and after they dry from the ample use of paint, will be up on the bulletin board. This afternoon, more apple fun!

Enjoy your day,

Miss Sue
