Hurry Up Summer Program!

Hello Friends Around the Planet,

Just a few more days of our regular program, then on to our Summer Program starting on Monday, June 4th. We have so much going on, we hardly have enough time to do it all. Between running, biking and climbing in our refurbished back yard to learning about W, X, Y, Z words...where does the time go?

We have begun to make our Father's Day gifts....several steps, but oh so worth it! I won't tell you exactly what it is, but it involves, glue, paint and dry, dyed macaroni and one other element I can't tell you about yet. Oh! The results are terrific! We have some very dedicated artists who have put a lot of energy into the project!

Next week, our first week of the Summer Program will be "Camping Week". Lots of fun stuff planned including a BBQ, homemade ice cream, tents, faux hiking, water play and more!

Enjoy the photos...we have so much fun here...hope you will join us too!

Hugs to you,
Miss Sue

We're So Busy...We're Busting a Move....

Hello Followers,

We are so busy, I just realized that it was Thursday and I have not blogged since last week! Wow! Time slips away!  We have been so busy learning about U and V this week. We learned all about vegetables, tasting them, making juice out of them and more. Do you know what veggies grow above the ground and which grow underground? WoW!

The biggest news! We're back in our big yard! Yahoo! Many thanks to the V.A. and the construction crew who did an outstanding job. We're back climbing, running crazy, riding our bikes on the bike path and soon new sand! We've got a plan in place to keep it clean, too!

Check out our sister blog: campcherub.blogspot.com to see what we are up to for the summer. Pass the info to friends who might be interested!

We are also working on our Father's Day Projects....never too early to get going on this multi-step project. We are thrilled with the initial results!

Enjoy the sun, we're having fun!

“A simple cup of tea is far from a simple matter.”

Hello All,

“A simple cup of tea is far from a simple matter.”
Mary Lou Heiss, Story of Tea: A Cultural History and Drinking Guide

It's far from simple and oh so much fun! We had our Tea Party today with faux tea (apple juice in tea pots), pretzels, strawberries, cookies and some bite size pieces of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. Lovely, charming and not too high-brow all at the same time. We talked about our manners including putting our napkin in our lap, passing the food around, taking only what you touch, please and thank you and discussing subjects that only polite company would discuss as in: "what will you spend your weekend doing?" "What is your favorite color and why?"

We had a full discourse on activities of the day today; will it be painting, bicycle riding, use of color crayons to express ourselves or a rousing jaunt around the grounds?  And the most important part lots of laughs, funny moments and more.
Life is good...Check out our quilt! It's growing!

Hugs to you,
Miss Sue

Quilt a Little, Talk a Little and Learn in the Process

Hello Friends of Cherub,

Whew! This week is flying by! We have had lots of fun both inside and outside. Our top rated news is....drum roll please....ta..dah! The back yard is finally done. We should be up pounding the pavement by Monday, 5/21! The crew who worked on the project have been outstanding....very gentlemenly, especially because we have little children here! Thank you to them....so we are hosting a Krispy Kreme and Coffee morning as thanks to them tomorrow! I don't know who is more excited about it...me or them!

We have begun working on our quilt, the actual sewing that is. The children were facinated with the idea that the needle goes up and down with thread binding the material together. Only 1 child had ever seen a sewing machine! So, an education for all of us!

Tomorrow is tea party day! We talked about our manners, foods and other things related to coming to the tea party. We will play dress up and pour faux tea (apple juice) from tea pots to real tea cups to complete this extraordinary event.

Pass the info on to your friends: CAMP CHERUB is coming! We have a sister blog: http://www.campcherub.blogspot.com/  which has some info on it about what great stuff we have planned for the summer. Don't miss Pirate Week, Camping Week, Western Week...a bouncy house two times, homemade ice cream, walks to the yogurt shop and Nob Hill Grocery Store and Burger King. Life is good!

Have a great day!
Smiles to you,
Miss Sue

Happy S and T Week

Hello Friends Around the World,

So glad you have virtually joined us to see what we have been up to! Last week we sent home our cloth lunch sized and personalized Mother's Day bags. Some Moms said they are using it as their purse, some for lunch, some a make up bag and other things. But, across the board, everyone's mom loved the bag with their children's hand prints on it and the message "I love you Mom" on it. So glad it was a big hit at YOUR house.

Today begins S and T week...we have seashells, sand dollars, tee shirts, triangle art, turtles and the ever popular TEA PARTY on Friday! Ooooh, ahhh! Finger sandwiches, cookies and "tea" from apple juice. Can't wait! We set the table with a table cloth, flowers, faux candles and plates and use our best manners to have a lovely event!

Plus, we are working away on the quilt project....got all the squares cut, all the handprints done and now I will bring in my sewing machine to see how things are put together. Some children suggested stapling, some gluing and some just said it would all come together by itself without sewing....so everyone will be in for a big surprise to watch the sewing take place.

Enjoy you day...we do with lots of belly laughs, joy and enthusiasm!

A Salute to Moms Everywhere!

Hello World,

This week we all about our Moms! Moms....what can we say...they come in all sizes and shapes and ages! Some work outside the home, some inside the home (which their work never stops). At our school we have Moms who are lawyers, flight attendants, bankers, speech therapists and many things beyond that. But, the most important job is being a MOM! We have talked all about what Moms do for us throughout our life...unconditional support and love, even when we are not very lovable! But, Moms are there...being our biggest cheerleader, champion and caregiver and later in our life, best friend.

So to say thank you to our Moms...we have baked chocolate chip cookies from scratch and sent them home, made a super a duper surprise gift being sent home for Moms and even #1 Mom badges for our moms. Also, our children dictated to us what they thought their mom did for fun..."my mom likes to watch Cinderella all day", "my mom likes to clean house" and more. Wait 'till you see the letters when they come home.

Hugs all around,
Miss Sue

Lots and Lots and Lots of Things to Do

Hello!

Time gets away from me! Whew! We have been working on Q and R this week...we made robots and rainbows and more. Plus, we learned all about quilts...what the difference is between and quilt and a blanket? Miss Sue brought in several quilts to learn all about them. And...we are beginning making our own quilt that will go up for raffle for a fundraiser for the school!

Tomorrow...rainbow necklaces...wait until you see those. Enjoy the robot pictures and the ocean from last week's theme.

Have a great day,
Miss Sue
